Expensive since you can get a practice test from ETS online

Its a good book in that you do receive a real GRE. However, ETS provides an online practice that has an exam. The best strategy is to take the online (pdf from gre.org) practice test and find out the concentration of questions and your level of comfort with the topics. The fields that you have most difficulty with will require more practice and memorization. After review of this material in your Intro Psych text and other category specific books (Cognitive, Developmental, Personality, Social, Behavioral, Stats and Neuro) take the Book test under timed conditions. The intevening period of time should wash out the information from the online test. Take that again. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! No better way of pumping up your scores. As with most GREs, if you take at least 4 or 5 practice (deliberate practice) tests, you will see that your scores should increase greatly.
The stats quesitons on the exam are NOT formidable though a recent stats course would help.
You should do fine (if you are a decent Psych undergrad) with a few weeks of review. If you have not had some of the requisite topical courses, you may want to review a little bit further than an Intro Psych text.

Good practice, but don't assume it's an accurate predictor

Because this book if out of print it may be hard to find and/or people are asking ridicules prices for it. Keep in mind this book only contains ONE practice. When you sign up for the psych GRE you get one free one as well. Although it's nice to have an actual test to get a feel for the type of questions on the exam...don't assume that because it's an actual GRE test that it will provide you with an accurate indication of your score. I scored a 680 on this exam which was in the 90th percentile. However, on the actual exam I only scored a 600. Although I don't blame this book for "decreasing" my score.. just keep in mind that this is an OLD test and that because it's an old test a lot of the study aids (like Kaplan and Princeton Review) have designed their material with this exact test and these exact questions in mind, therefore giving you the impression that the test is easier than it is. I found the actual psych GREs to be MUCH harder than any of the practice tests ETS has put out. I recommend this book because it gives you a real feel for the exam and because any type of study material is going to be beneficial... however, keep in mind that your scores on this test will probably be much more inflated than the actual exam if you have spent time reading through study aids...as every single one of these questions has been answered throughly in retrospect by Kaplan and Princeton Review.

This book is good practice and accurately reflects the realGRE. Since it's written by the same people who write the test it givesa fair representation of the content. The only negative is that there is only one pracitce test.

It may conclude in 1992, but Sheldon's latest is sheer 80's excess--the compulsively readable, sin-laden saga of a tycooness who's part Donald Trump, part Leona Helmsley. Though Sheldon's recent heroines (Memories of Midnight, etc.) have been sexy saints, his earlier leading ladies had a crueler edge--just like young Canadian Lara Cameron here, who in a series of canny real-estate deals uses her body as well as her wits to climb out of backwater poverty. With $3 million in her pocket, Lara moves to Chicago, multiplies her fortune, and, in 1984, takes on N.Y.C. There, even as she puts up a Monopoly board's worth of hotels and office buildings, including the world's tallest; battles sexism in the industry; and proves wildly generous to her employees, Lara reveals a darker side--slapping one worker; drugging prospective investors with Valium; harassing tenants by turning their building into a de facto homeless shelter; bedding mob lawyer Paul Martin. Is Sheldon depicting the evolution of a monster? Not at all--for outweighing these flaws, he hammers home, are Lara's ``independence and courage, her talent and vision and generosity.'' And her loneliness, dispelled by marriage to star pianist Philip Adler, the perfect icing on Lara's cake. So where's the drama? It comes in spades in the late 80's, as the market crashes: Lara's fortune dwindles; her ex-secretary writes a tell- all book; and the law starts poking into the casino that Lara set up with Paul Martin's crooked help, and into the attack by a thug- -hired by a jealous Lara?--who cut Philip's wrist and career. A Must Read Occult Reference

This is a fine book which carefully and succinctly covers a wide spectrum of occult interests in two sections. The first gives a thorough treatment of the Kaballah, Mediumship, the astral world, sex matters, the soul, mind power and issues related mortality and immortality. The second section contends with issues of divination, including a primer on astrology, tarot, numerology, winning methods and other psychic science, amongst others. There is a lot of detailed knowledge in this 394 page book and the treatment is detailed yet concise. A good read, and a must for any occult libary. I purchased mine second hand, but in excellent condition for $30. It was worth every cent. Mine was published in hardcover, 1970 by Nash Publishing in Los Angeles. I am aware of the book in paperback as well.

This is one of the books "authored" by the original Zolar, a radio personality named Bruce King. And I must admit, it's a handy introduction to a number of things, as a kid I thought it was amazing. Time, however, has shown me that much of it was cobbled together from bits that were plagiarized from other authors. In the chapter on crystal gazing, for instance ("Using the Magic Mirror") he's lifted entire passages from Sepharial, Melville, and undoubtedly others. The end result is a workable "how-to" with much of the fat cut, but no credit given to the real authors.

The book is full of constructive advice like "see that your word is sacredly maintained" and pious quotes from the likes of Ella Wheeler Wilcox, lol. Oh, irony.
