Original JAK!
By Amazon Customer
I love JAK under whichever pseudonym she happens to be writing under, but most of her books (especially her latest ones) have been recycling premises and plots.
I hadn't had a chance to read this book before, so getting it in e-book format was a total treat. Compared to her latest writing it was fresh and new. I would be utterly delighted if she would drop the re-tread threads and delve back into this fascinating world!

Another Gem from JAK
By EasyReader001
Sensuality: Sweet to mildly sensual. Sex scenes are neither plentiful nor graphic
Violence: Present but not overwhelmingly so
Plot: Well-drawn
Character Development: Stronger for Heroine than Hero but good for both
Secondary Characters: Mostly background or villain
I read this way back when (before Kindle) and recently re-visited it on my Kindle. It's nice to add it to my Kindle library. I am a JAK fan but am more likely to read her Jayne Castle and Amanda Quick titles. Not too long ago I ran across Shield's Lady and was reminded that she writers futuristic stuff under her Jayne Ann Krentz imprint as well. I like the well-developed characters of all her books but this satisfied even more than most in that department. She did a good job of showing readers via her Cidra Rainforest (heroine) that what we think we want and what we really want/need are not always the same thing. The heroine goes from a buttoned-up Harmonic to a passionate and strong woman through the course of the story. The hero fares less well in my opinion. It is not a secret from the beginning that he has a well-developed sense of what is right and a sense of responsibility for others. He doesn't want to have her join him as passenger/crew, he knows it will be dangerous to his heart/libido, he knows he's bad for her. But if he doesn't take her someone less scrupulous will to her detriment. So the adventure begins. There is no doubt Teague Severance is a good man. He's not, however, one of the ones that makes me fall madly in love from the get-go.
Bottom line--despite it's having been written in the 80s (I think), it hasn't become dated. It is fresh and interesting and has the romance and character development (as well as strong plot) a person expects from Ms. Krentz. I recommend it for anyone who likes futuristic romance and doesn't expect erotica.
