"The Cathedral", Housing the Human Disparities and Ensuring the Continuing Deterioration of Humanity
By smile be happy
Demille never ceases to amaze me. "The Cathedral" was both informative and suspenseful. His development of the characters was excellent and his knowledge of seemingly disparate cultures was admiral. To me it was bound by a spiritual essence that made everything cohesive and permitted some literary suspension of reality. One could see the assets as well as the faults in everyone and everything. It seemed as if we were all God's Children fighting the opposite sides of the same coin. In the end I think we all lost something unnecessarily. I was wondering if mankind needs to prove repeatedly that it can destroy itself. Just an excellent book that I hope you get the opportunity to read. Thanks.

Another great novel
By Rod L
Another compelling well written novel. Appreciated DeMille's research of the technical details of the architecture of St Patrick's as well as the geography of the upper east side.
As with all of his books this local attention to detail adds to the authenticity of his stories.

Action, adventure, intrigue, spys, terrorists, politics...
By Michael Beverly
Much like the novel By the Rivers of Babylon, this novel has a big cast of characters and lots of action and intrigue. DeMille captures the politics involved and shows some evil and good on both sides of the fight.
One of the reasons I love DeMille so much is unfortunately missing in this novel, and that's a first person point of view protagonist. However, there is one main character that is hero of the novel, and while not quite as good, it's reads great and overall the whole story is great.
No need to go over the plot line and details again, so I'll just say that if you enjoy DeMille, you'll like this one too, if you've never read him, well, this is as good a place to start as any, but keep in mind that some of his other novels are quite different.
DeMille is a great novelist if you haven't tried out some of his stuff, you're missing out.
